Transparency
Establish a Public Progress Dashboard for systemic feedback. Using anonymized data from the Human Rights Reporting Tool and School Climate Surveys, the board could publish quarterly updates on common concerns raised by families and the specific administrative actions taken to resolve them.
Modernize the ASPEN Online Information System. Currently, this critical tool for registration and student information doesn't support mobile devices, creating a significant barrier for many families.
Establish Student Voice Forums at every LDSB secondary school twice annually, facilitated by Student Trustees and attended by ward Trustees to hear directly from student councils and affinity groups.
Building Student Power
Establish a recurring student survey on AI implementation, and use the results to guide updates to classroom technology policy and academic honesty rules.
Advocate for increasing the number of Student Trustee positions beyond the current three to ensure our 21,000+ students see their diverse pathways and geographic wards reflected at the board table.
Implement an Open Access Program Development Policy. Allow students to formally petition for the creation of new Focus Programs or SHSM sectors based on their career interests.
Mandate Student-Led Census Analysis. Before the board finalizes its response to the 2025 Census, the Student Trustees and Student Affinity Groups should be given a facilitated opportunity to interpret the results and present their own "State of the Student" report to the Committee of the Whole.
Create a Student-Directed Innovation Fund.
Establish a Student Human Rights Advisory Subcommittee within the Community Equity Advisory Committee to review anonymized, disaggregated human rights incident data and identify systemic patterns of discrimination, harassment, and exclusion.
