The 2026 municipal and school board election takes place on Monday, October 26, 2026. In Kingston, voters will elect a mayor, district councillors, and school board trustees on the same day.
To vote in an Ontario school board election, you must
Be a Canadian citizen,
be at least 18 years old on election day,
and be eligible to vote in the municipality where you live or qualify as a residential property owner or tenant
To vote, you need to be on the voters’ list. You can check if you're on the list and add yourself at:
RegisterToVoteON.ca by August 12, 2026, and after the voters’ list is prepared on September 1, changes must go through the municipal clerk.
Ontario requires voters to show identification when they vote. If your name is already on the voters’ list, you need one piece of identification showing your name and address, Photo ID is not required.
